ROYAL DELFT GIVE AWAY AT LITTLE BLUE DEER!

Beautiful Shari of Little Blue Deer blog is doing a give away! Her blog is one of my favourite daily doses of inspiration. Shari is very resourceful, creative & fun!
The give away is a set of boxed notecards that I designed for the Royal Delft museum last year in celebration of 400 years trade relations between The Netherlands and Japan. Each illustration contains a Delft blue object from the Museum collection combined with blossoms. There are 10 (2x5 designs) double cards in the box, blank inside for your own message, with envelopes. So far I have designed 16 boxed note card series with different themes, including a culinary range. You can check out all designs on my webstore. And if you are not winning this box there will be another opportunity soon at another beautiful blog...

A big THANK YOU to Shari for hosting my give away!

Soul for my Art - NOW AVAILABLE IN MY WEBSTORE

Finally! It took me almost a day yesterday organizing my new products in my webstore. I am still a one woman band (but a proud one), managing all the aspects of my mini mouse empire.  My series of greeting cards made in the UK and published by Soul UK can now be bought online. Soul UK is a lovely boutique publisher. I met the director of Soul, David Hicks (YES decor lovers that is really his name), about a year ago. I was looking for a publisher that could take my work into countries beyond The Netherlands. He loved my work and picked 20 images that have been made into a series double greeting cards which they now distribute worldwide. It is great when you encounter people that believe in what you are doing. It is one thing chasing your dreams but a whole other ball game turning your dreams into reality. Thank you Soul and thank you David!

Tales from the Webstore

I have a headache today. Not because of last night's lovely Tuscany red, but since yesterday my webstore is finally on line. Dealing with technical stuff always gives me a headache. It is just not my cup of tea. The store is still in a very modest form with just a few of my products such as silk pillows and greeting card boxes. Have a look at webstore.mariskameijers.com and let me know what you think!

Black & White

I  do not consider myself  a black & white person, neither in my thinking, nor in my art. But as with many things in life there can be the occasional deviation....About 2 months ago I was going through my image library with UK publisher David Hicks of Soul. He stumbled on this charcoal sketch of Japanese slippers and chose it to complete the selection of 20 greeting card designs. Today I received a box with the cards including the black & white slippers. Well  David I have to say they look so amazing, that I might deviate again!

Creative pact

Here is a snippet from last Saturday's edition of Dutch newspaper "De Telegraaf" ("VROUW" supplement) featuring the culinary greeting card box I designed for 3 Michelin star chef Jonnie Boer of the Librije. I love the challenge of commisioned work, a creative pact between the client and the artist.

Soul for my art

I am excited as I have signed on last month with UK publisher Soul, a "boutique" publisher that have now created a range of single greeting cards for my label "Mariska Meijers Amsterdam", with notebooks, wrapping paper and gift tags to follow shortly. Here is a design of one of the cards.
